May 28, 2008: We begin shipping Cougar Opaque 70lb text A7 envelope.

Cougar Opaque is 10% recycled post-consumer, FSC, Green Seal certified and is made using wind power. We have also added a selection of 100% recycled brown-bag envelope, the Greengrocer's. The cost of the brown bag is killing us, therefor we cannot afford to ship it with our beautiful card without raising the wholesale price. We thereby offer the brown-bag envelope as an eco-friendly enhancement to customers who prefer green material over cheaper pricing, for extra $0.10 each.

Lotus Seeds & Lotus Seeds Design

Lotus Seeds, previously known as Tee's Works, is now in its fifth year of providing one-of-a-kind fine-art greeting cards with Asian Charm to the U.S. greeting card lovers. We take pride in sharing the beauty of traditional Chinese art and Eastern wisdom through our fine paper products.

Lotus Seeds is a small independent greeting cards publisher and a one-woman-show Web Design house. The inspiration behind Lotus Seeds is Tee G. Peng, a young Malaysian woman of Chinese descent who dearly loves the Chinese culture and language.

Our Social commitment

Lotus Seeds is an environmental and ecological conscious publisher. All our card designs are printed on recycled paper and the cellophane bags we used are also recyclable.

Paper used for cards and envelopes:

  1. Wausau Exact® Index 140lb White: 30% recycled post-consumer, Green Seal® certified, Acid-free
  2. Fox River Howard Linen 80lb cover white: 30% recycled post-consumer, ECF, Acid Free.
  3. Fox River Crush Leaf Silver Sparkle 80lb cover : 30% recycled post-consumer, ECF, Acid Free and Archival
  4. Beckett Cambric Linen 80lb cover Pepermint: 20% recycled post-consumer, Acid Free
  5. Wausau Astrobright Re-entry Envelope: 30% recycled post-consumer, Green Seal® certified, Acid-free
  6. Beckett Cambric Linen 80lb cover Pepermint: 20% recycled post-consumer, Acid Free
  7. The only none recycled paper we use is Vellum 70lb text Lee size envelope. We are currently looking for other source of envelope that is affordable to us and offer the same high quality that meets our customers' expectation.
  8. We have replaced the Park Avenue Vellum 70lb text Lee size non-recycled envelope to Cougar Opaque 70lb text A7. Cougar Opaque is 10% recycled post-consumer, FSC certified and Green Seal certified; we were told by our supplier that the paper is made using wind power. On top of this, we have also added a small selection of 100% recycled brown-bag envelope, the Greengrocer's. Unfortunately, the cost of the brown bag is killing us, therefor we cannot afford to ship it with our beautiful cards. We thereby offer the brown-bag envelope as an eco-friendly enhancement to customers who prefer green material over cheaper pricing, for extra $0.10 each.

We use PP5 cello-bags from Clearbags.com

Because of the Asian style designs, we have been asked many times if we outsource everything to China or we are a company from China. The answer is NO. We work with artists from Asia countries, but production and the designs are done exclusively in the US.

Each year, Lotus Seeds makes a small percentage of its profit to non-profit organization and monastery for Buddhist religious, cultural, nuns and girls education [1] and ecological projects, and to people who have lost their homes in disaster.

Lastly, all the beautiful artworks on this website are the creation of several talented Chinese artists who have worked with Lotus Seeds for many years. As far as Lotus Seeds concerned, Tee prefers her role as a sincere and diligent assembler who loves the Chinese culture and to share the beauty of traditional Chinese art with Americans through the simple form of greeting cards.

We hope Lotus Seeds unique card designs will enhance your retail mix and add a feature of Asian beauty as well as culture to your special store.

Please visit and come back again. Thank you!

[1] Buddhism is a way of life in places like Nepal and Tibet, however, many families are poor and can only afford to send one child for Buddhist education. Oftentimes, girls are left behind or make sacrifice due to local custom and culture.
